Fijis rugby sevens team wins both pool matches on Sunday (June 21)
The Fiji Rugby Sevens team has lifted the Olympic medals after losing in the pool to the USA, defeating the hosts 29-20, in the finals.
It is the first time the reigning Olympic champions have come from behind after finishing seventh in their pool group.
The USA was led by Michael Phelps, who won four medals at the Rio Olympics.
The Fiji champions were led by Fiji skipper Alvero Filano, who scored two tries - including the score-line-line.
Former Fiji number one Christian Wade broke the deadlock to lead an aggressive Fiji side to victory.
The top seeds finished sixth after beating the hosts by 25 points, with the final two games in their own pool being on Saturday (June 21) and Sunday (June 22).
Coach Chris O'Neill said, however, that Fiji would not be holding a press conference as part of the final two weeks of competition.
"My boys have come from behind to win this tournament and it's the start of a very, very good period to come back and have a good summer where we'll come back and win the championship," he said.
"They were outstanding on Saturday and again on Sunday.
"The last game we fought them to a draw in the pool stage but now they have a full week and are looking to improve."
Team Fiji, with nine players selected in Friday's pool games, has a chance of retaining its medal title on Sunday (June 21).
"These guys did a brilliant job," said U21 coach Nick Molloy.
"I'd say that if the competition really is close, the gold would be our highest ever since I've been a coach here in 2014.
"But as we've seen at previous tournaments it's not always that easy to close the score so we have to just play our game and work very hard for every victory."
Fiji's first-year captain Ben McLachlan, the first-string lock and No 1 international, said the team had been hardworking the whole weekend.
"I think we played extremely hard against USA and it gave us confidence going into our final pool game, but I think we've been working all week to get the best result to seal that and to stay in front in the pool," he said.
"Obviously, as an athlete you just want a win, you want to put them in the boat and if we win it's a good result, and the final games we have to try and do things well and win as many games as we can."
